Sedláček, Jakub ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The topic of the Diploma thesis is a design of the New train station in Brno. The plot is located on the boundary of three city districts – Komárov, Štýřice and Trnitá. This area includes the railway structure for the new train station and also its public spaces, which are very close to the river Svratka. The railway structure is designed as bridge construction, that rises all platforms and rail tracks to 7,65 metres above the ground level. So all of the railways do not become a barrier in the city. The main concept extends a longitudinal axis of the city boulevard through the train station, which creates a high-rise building in the southern part of the plot. This axis is written not only to the layout but also to the roof design. The train station includes two underground levels, ground floor and first floor. Underground levels consist of P+R parking, deliveries only area, technical facilities and subway terminal. The ground floor is the main traffic centre. There is an entrance hall, shopping area, bus terminal and public corridors. The first floor includes platforms for train departures and arrivals. There are also public spaces in the entrance hall. The basic structural system consists of two parts. The first part is a massive reinforced concrete structure of the railway bridge deck and all underground levels. This structure is based on reinforced concrete foundation pads with drilled piles. The second part is a steel frame structure of the roof. That includes steel columns and truss girders for the structure of the lower area. The higher part of the roof is designed as a steel-truss bridge with the characteristic profile. The new train station supposes to create a new gate to the city of Brno, that connects contemporary districts with the historical city center.
HOUSE ON THE FOOTHILL - TOWN HOUSE IN THE HISTORICAL CENTRE
Dvořáková, Eva ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Oplatek, Jiří (advisor)
The main objective of the master´s thesis was a design of the town house in the complicated topografical situation of the foothill of Pekařská street. The topography of the building site is influenced by its surroundings. The street Pekařská is lowering from east to west, but the road Anenská is rising from east to west. The biggest difference between the the lowest and the highest point of the site is 7,5 m. This situation enables to design three entrances to three different floors of the building. An outstanding point of the design of the house is a composition axis which is running up Pekařská street. The town house is facing this axis thus the main entrance of the house is accented. There was a compact house designed, which takes advantage of its very good position – there is a two-floor solution with a shopping mall. The hall in its middle is opening over two floors and it is lightened through a roof lightwell. On this platform is situated an „L“ shaped part of the building, which creates a protection against very noisy Pekařská street. The house is opening its form to the south, to a sunny roof garden. This garden is opened only for inhabitants of the house. The garden improves the quality of the living in the house and substitutes a green area, which used to be in this place. The shape of the building is lowering down from Pekařská street to Anenská road. There are some terraces designed this way to improve the living in the roof apartments and provide a beatiful view to the west.

They differ in plan of secondary beams and columns, in floor plan of glass atrium and used cross-sections. Building´s load-bearing structure consists of pin-supported columns, primary beams, secondary beams and purlins. Rigidity of the structure is enshured by system of vertical bracings and in horizontal direction by composite slab. Multifunctional building Malá Amerika
Jašková, Tereza ; Muroň, Ivo (referee) ; Ležatka, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor work follows up on an architectural atelier project made in the winter semester of the third year of the bachelor program. The goal of this project is a plan of a new multifunctional building in the city part of Brno-Střed. The site is located on the corner of Nové Sady, Nádražní and Hybešova. There are Malá Amerika and Titanium buildings nearby. The new building respects the urban concept, and the new structures match the height of the already present buildings. The multifunctional building consists of three aboveground parts each of which has its own public services. The corner building serves as a shopping mall with administrative offices. The building next to the Titanium is used for its showrooms and administrative part and the last and lowest building houses a café with a multifunctional space and a library. The whole site is conjoined by its underground parking lot which is accessible through entrances on the north-west and north-east sides. The shape of the building copies the intersection and creates an imaginary rampart, which also creates a square between the structures of Malá Amerika and the multifunctional building. The stalls of these structures are made from concrete arches reminiscent of a historical viaduct, which used to be situated here. The upper floors are covered with cladding made from bricks. The building worked on has an atrium which provides more daylight to otherwise very deep floor layouts. The main goal was to create a pleasant and habitable space in this part of the city.

Nowadays shopping malls are very fashionable places for realization of leisure time activities, not only among youth. Teenagers play the pivotal role in my work, because this group of population predestines - to a certain degree - the future evolution in a society. The main aim is to understand why teenagers spend their leisure time this way and find out, what leads them to the passivity in realization of their leisure time activities. What brings them this way of spending their leisure time and what is specific for the space of shopping mall, where they spend their leisure time. I want to understand spatial aspects of using in this micro-space of shopping mall and as well as I want to recognize the role of wider social context. I selected two shopping malls in Prague for my research: Centrum Chodov and Palác Flora. Questionnaire survey, participant observation and in-depth interviews were realized. These malls are not selected randomly, but on the basis of the field research, which preceded to...
